Electronic Chlorine Generator for In-ground pools!

    Plumbing Recommendations
    It is very important that you use 2" plumbing when ever possible.

    You should size your pump and filter according to the size of your swimming pool and size of your plumbing.
    THE POOL GUY SAYS    :
    For an average back yard pool, 8K-15K of water, I have found that a 60" DE filter/ 420 sq ft Cartridge
    and a 3/4 hp (full-rated-energy efficient) pump seems to be the best way to go .

    Each style of filter has a place

    DE Filters

    The DE filter is cleaned by backwashing. The filter when pressure increases 7-10 lbs. over  normal operation pressure. However, once the filter has been backwashed, new DE must be added to coat the grids inside the filter. Do this by pouring DE through the skimmer. A simple backwash will not remove all the DE.
    A guideline that I follow is 1 lbs. per 5sq ft of filter area after a complete tear-down and clean. Use approximately 75% after the simple backwash.
    * 60 sq ft DE filter would need approximately 12 lbs. of DE after a complete tear-down and only 8 lbs. after a backwash. The DE filters come many sizes : 36" 48" 60"*  72"

    Cartridge/Paper Filters

    Cartridge or paper filters are mainly used in Spas, Hot tubs and above ground pools.

    Clean up is much easier. When pressure increases 7-10 lbs. over  normal operation pressure, Just spray clean with fresh water. When the filters become stained or discolored, It is time to replace them.

    The Pool Guy Recommendation:
    Above ground swimming pools, spas, hot tubs
      CARTRIDGE FILTER

    Sand Filters  This style is much easier maintenance. Sand filters work better when slightly dirty. Only backwash when required by the increased pressure. When pressure increases 7-10 lbs. over  normal operation pressure. Backwash (reverse the flow of water). Nothing to add.
