DE Filters  |
The DE filter is cleaned by backwashing. The filter when pressure increases 7-10 lbs. over normal operation pressure. However, once the filter has been backwashed, new DE must be added to coat the grids inside the filter. Do this by pouring DE through the skimmer. A simple backwash will not remove all the DE.

Cartridge or paper filters are mainly used in Spas, Hot tubs and above ground pools. Clean up is much easier. When pressure increases 7-10 lbs. over normal operation pressure, Just spray clean with fresh water. When the filters become stained or discolored, It is time to replace them. |

Sand Filters This style is much easier maintenance. Sand filters work better when slightly dirty. Only backwash when required by the increased pressure. When pressure increases 7-10 lbs. over normal operation pressure. Backwash (reverse the flow of water). Nothing to add. |
